This patch was the first patch used by the Marion Police Department. It was developed around 1950 and used throughout the 1950’s.
1950’s to 1976
The second patch used by the Marion Police Department was developed in the mid-1950’s. It was used until 1976 when the third and current patch was developed. The gold patch was used for supervisors while a gray patch was used for patrol officers.
1976 to Present
This patch was the third and current patch of the Police Department. Due to the bicentennial celebrations, there was a desire to add the American flag to the patch. Patrolman Ron Hesson designed and developed the patch. It was approved by Chief Exley and began to be worn by the department in 1976.
The gold patch is still used to signify supervisors while a gray patch is used for patrol officers.
